Hyderabad Food Products Pvt Ltd (HFPPL), a company formed in 1984 in Hyderabad, in the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh, now capital of the newly formed state of Telangana. The company was formed to manufacture Spice Powders as in those days Spice Powder were sold in a loose form on Kirana and provision stores, most of the adulterated form. It was thought that if good quality Spice Powders in packaged form can be given to consumers and a trust is developed with them, the company can create a new segment in packaged masale in the market.
The company started marketing of Spices Powders under the brand name ‘SURYA’, which became a household name in the region of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The company was among first to adopt mechanical cleaning of Spices, standardizing the color and pungency in the Spices. It was also among the few companies to introduce three-layer laminated pouches to retain the freshness of Spices.
Today the company manufactures and markets a complete range of Whole and Powdered Spices. Soon, as an obvious expansion the company moved into manufacturing of Blended Spices and today it has a large range of about 25 varieties of Blended Spices.
The company further expanded its product range into Pickles, Culinary Paste, Indian Namkeens, Indian Sweets and few Bakery items, making it a company with a huge range of traditional Food products. The thought process to remain in traditional products is to make it convenient in cooking to a housewife as more women are opting for career and also to give traditional Namkeens which Indians are used to eating for generations and are not able to make it at home.
